Internet access bug - Advanced Privacy Mask IP feature gets turned on without being asked

Hello,

Currently using /e/OS 2.8-s-20250220470167-official-hero2lte ROM on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (which came from the Foundation with /e/OS preinstalled), I encounter the following issue since ROM version from January 2025.

Sometimes (quite often) internet access stops working (in email app, browser, app store, etc.), whether connected via Mobile data, or Wifi. Internet connection sources are fine (at least Wifi source could be successfully checked with an other device) - the issue is coming from the phone’s software.

If I open Advanced Privacy, I see that only the 2 first options are enabled “Block trackers” & “Hide location”. I usually disable “Mask IP” feature as I find it slowing down too much/breaking internet access. But here it appears as disabled.
From here, if I reboot phone, Internet access still doesn’t work. However I can see “Mask IP” appearing as enabled. I can’t disable it from the dashboard (i.e. the menu that appears after swiping to right from the landing screen) - trying to untick the checkbox does nothing. But if go to Advanced Privacy in the phone settings, from there I can disable the “Mask IP” feature. And then internet access works again…

I have just found recently that workaround, and couldn’t find so far the pattern (if any) that makes the internet access to break. Or how “Mask IP” actually gets enabled if I didn’t ask for it.

Would that be a known bug ?
