Is it possible to use browser to access banking?

Hi everyone,

I’m interested in migrating to e/os with my Fairphone 4.

I see there are a lot of issues using banking apps. I use Triodos, does anyone know if it’s possible to access online banking using your browser rather than the problematic apps?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum. I can’t speak to Triodos bank directly but I can access all features of my bank account online, AIB in Ireland, via various browser apps including e/OS/’s own browser app. I do need an authenticator device using ATM card to gain full rights access rather than having my phone set up as an approved device.

All the best with your migrating if you decide to take the plunge.

Gioni.

A clue to how the bank is likely to play with Browser is from Browser settings (3 dot menu top right) > Scroll well down > Add to Home screen.

Add to Home →

  • “Create shortcut” then the bank may offer a good service by https – typically banks with stronger physical presence.

  • “Install app” then the bank is more likely do be somewhat app dependent.

Transactions by https are not secured as many apps are by “the trust of Google”.
