Is Mail (going to be) available as a separate app?

I would like to know whether /e/ Mail app is available to install separately from /e/ OS, or failing that, whether there are any plans for it.

I have /e/ OS installed on a phone, and I have issues with the packaged /e/ Mail app. It would be nice to be able to install the latest version of the /e/ Mail app separately, to see if it solves the issues.

on the prio of Apps to be updated, Mail comes first, so could be in for 0.23 according to this comment

But Mail isn’t an independent app. Mail is a fork of K-9. So when you need it somewhere else then just install K-9 there.

That way you’ll have an app that is up-to-date with the latest bug fixes and features, especially if you install the beta releases from F-Droid.

You’ll miss out on the /e/OS colour scheme though!

Using the mail app I wasn’t able to change notifications sounds. Changes wouldn’t stick.
I’ve since moved to Monocles from F-Droid. Problem solved.
Its a fork of the K-9 mail version 5.600 with the old K-9 mail layout.

Does the Mail app survive Flight Mode now? I don’t know it.

No idea regarding flight mode sorry. I’m sticking with Monocles in the meantime.
