Is the an open source, Material You app collection for system apps like Contacts?

A while back I made the (maybe bad) choice to remove the system apps like Calendar, Contacts, Phone, Gallery etc. because the theming was inconsistent and I wanted a Material You app collection. Unfortunately, I could not find a Material You solution so I had to settle with the Fossify apps?

Are /e/'s default apps using Material You now? If yes, how can I reinstall them? If not, is there anything close to what I’m trying to achieve? Thanks!

you’ll get the Material You changes with a /e/OS-U / Android 14 / Lineage 21 release, see both Changelog 28 - Fantastic Fourteen, Amazing Applications, Undeniable User-Experience – LineageOS and https://review.lineageos.org/q/“material+you”

This is great, thanks! One question, since I removed these system packages, how can I get them back when time comes and we get the Material You implementation?

That sounds really cool ! I must say the system app are a bit outdated when it’s about design. I hope the S7 will get the upgrade :crossed_fingers:

I guess the answer is somewhere here - installation - How to reinstall an uninstalled system app through ADB? - Android Enthusiasts Stack Exchange

sure one thing is personal taste in UI - with new UI kits I worry about leaving behind older devices getting less fps on the same basic tasks.

Though in the case of Lineage improving the long abandoned AOSP apps that worry is misplaced, I don’t expect any perf regressions.

What you underline is true. However, older devices not able to support such a change won’t be able to get the whole A14 build, or maybe freelance devs will adapt it.
