A family member had an old Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 2019 tablet (model SM-T290 / gtowifi). I decided to give it a new lease on life by installing e/OS. I followed all the steps, but I got a lot of errors. Then, I followed the official LineageOS guide and was able to install it without any problems. Finally, I tried to mix both, but it didn’t end well. I guess it’s because the e/OS guide is for A14 and the LOS guide is for A15. If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. I really want to install e/OS.
You can try my a15 unofficial build:
Oh! Thank you very much. How stable is the ROM? Will it ever become an official part of the project?
Is the installation procedure the same as for LOS 22.2? Are updates done through recovery? I’m going to install it this weekend.
Yes, should be the same - usually just sideload the /e/OS ROM instead of the LOS one
I couldn’t resist and installed the ROM today, ha ha ha. The ROM is very stable, all components work well. Things I’ve noticed: it has a slight lag compared to LOS (it’s almost imperceptible, but it’s there). It has a random graphic glitch when switching apps in multitasking. The screen and text are slightly larger (I think it’s a DPI thing). I’m not a developer or anything, but if I can help with anything, I’m available here.
Does anyone have a working old lineageos recovery that works with the e/os build? I need it, since my tablet is carrier locked and only LOS recovery worked for me. I can’t use LOS anymore since i flashed magisk and FRP won’t let me sign for an unknown reason.
Hello @ferd, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.
You need plain gogol play services for that, so LOS + Gapps should do the job
Is another issue, you should need carrier stock OS and code from the carrier to unlock it
