Issues with play store apps inside App Lounge with anonymous account

Hi everyone!

I am currently aving some serious issues with the app lounge and with google maps. I fear both might be caused by microG.

I first noticed that google maps, which i use without an account, would only load the map layer but not the information layer (stores, streets etc); then, after I cleared rhe application storage, it wouldn’t load anything l, period. So I then checked the app lounge, where i noticed the real issue…

In the App Lounge home screen all the applications are shown normally, but when I click on an app from the play store the screen doesn’t load and i get the message: “You need to be using App Lounge with a Google account or in the Anonymous mode to be able to check a Play Store app” even though I AM checked in as an anonymous user.

I already tried deleting App Lounge’s cache and storage, rebooted many times but to no avail.

How can I fix this?

Is this a known bug?

Is it me or is that not the whole purpose of eOS to not use Google Maps, or Google Play Services? Use an alternate map source, problem solved… That’s the purpose of microG so you don’t have to use the google spyware.

The biggest issue here (and the title of the post) is App Lounge not working properly with the anonymous user login.

If you can do without Gmaps I am happy for you though

It’s not that easy. The alternate maps that Murena /e/OS provides are outdated (says the developer) and App Lounge won’t give you updates to the current version. The Magic Earth version that ships with /e/ won’t announce over Bluetooth car head units… Sure, other map solutions exist, but you got to find them in the first place.

Last time i used Magic Earth it announced voice over Bluetooth fine.

Could always use MapQuest, or even Waze.
