But other phones have the same problem, don’t they ? You said that not every phone is certified for VoLTE.
Now I’m really lost. I don’t know which phone I should buy
No Samsung because of VoLTE, but Pixels have no TWRP and may also have VoLTE issues…
Perhaps just create a topic here in the forum about your mobile service provider, and ask which devices /e/ forum members are using successfully on that network with VoLTE.
You can also ask for information about TWRP or other recovery projects in relation to Pixels.
As it stands now, Samsungs are known to lose VoLTE once any custom ROM is installed, and you’ve indicated that your preferred network requires VoLTE.
I would just like to anticipate the 3G network shutdown in France by 2028. I have a strict policy to keep every phone I buy at least 5 years (so that I don’t waste materials or overconsume), and it would be no use if I can’t make voice calls in 2 years. I don’t want to pour money down the drain.
Guess I’ll do that. As for TWRP, I’ve been seeking a bit and there’s an unofficial OrangeFox one. Looks quite like TWRP. I just want the backup/restore option.
I won’t go further here as I’m getting off-topic.
I’ll link my thread here for those interested
Yes VoLTE support is apparently a sh*t-show with some providers such as Orange Fr / Sosh, even on stock ROM.
You may want to try Free mobile (secondary SIM with a cheap 4G contract) in order to make tests
Look at their VoLTE supported models here
Wow ! That is useful ! Many thanks for finding this list !
I’ll see if there’s something similar for SFR or Orange/Sosh.
Edit : Orange is here
SFR is there
So, apparently plenty of phones have access to VoLTE. According to this article on the Orange website :
Pour accéder à la Voix 4G/VoLTE, il vous faut :
- Une offre 4G ou 5G active.
- Un téléphone compatible avec la Voix 4G.
- Une couverture réseau 4G optimale. N’hésitez pas à vérifier votre couverture réseau.
