Local sync - address/calender etc from Mac to Fairphone 6 with e/os

Hi, total newbie to e/os and anything Google. I am trying to get out of the Apple walled garden, how do I locally sync my Fairphone 6 with e/os to my mac.

Thanks @piero for the really quick reply, I tried to respond last night but the forum said I had to wait 28 minutes. That looks like a cloud based option ? I was hoping to find a wifi/usb cable option

Thanks @aibd again all cloud based, my contacts, calendar, notes etc are all local - a copy on my mac and a sync’d copy on my iphone.

there was an effort on doing this in Android, but it went quiet years ago. It (DeSync CC) probably still works.

This is to continually sync. You can ofc import manually just with the files (.vcf, .ics), but then there’ll by drift over time.

For transfer you can use cable (openmtp) or wifi, but the latter setup will take a bit of time.

The default apps on contacts/calendar are built on a client-server model. Notes especially. 3rd party Notes app “Obsidian” is a good, file-based replacement.

A small pc in your house that has nextcloud running isn’t real peer2peer, but not “cloud” (despite the naming)?

Thank you @tcecyk for DeSync CC - I have messed with Nextcloud before, but trying to get Nextcloud to run on a local RAID array proved to be really really hard. I also have a XigmaNAS setup that I need to rebuild - so DeSync CC / Syncthing and Xigma NAS looks very possible. - edit XigmaNAS has Syncthing built it - so perfect thank you

xigma looks like it can use freebsd pkgs, it has radicale in freshports. That is a lightweight caldav/carddav server, much simpler than nextcloud. Just make sure to set htpasswd auth after setup.

That said, I thought the thread would go in a direction where a non-technical user demands sync of all entities via GUI - similar to what Macs can offer to iPhones. Imo that demand is really warranted and a good thing.

If I can get it to work, I will have to make lots of notes of all the steps, the guys on XigmaNAS are really helpful, XigmaNAS can also do Time Machine support, so hopefully a one stop shop.
