Recently received the FairPhone 6 with Murena /e/OS 3.2-a15-20251022539003-official-FP6 Build number BP1A.250505.005. I am using a USA T-mobile sim for this phone.
When trying to use the weather app , location was not working (nor was the widget). I went to check magic map ( maps app) and the location was not appearing. After selecting the location icon, I would get a notification saying turn on precise location in the settings.
When going to settings→location , the use location feature was on but in the recent access section magic maps was not shown. Use assisted GPS toggle is on, in the location services tab wifi scanning and bluetooth scanning is on. Still no location apps working.
I also checked in the setting →micro G setting →location and everything was on. The use /e/os’s location system was not on. I tried both options and no changes. The weird thing about this tab is that is does not have the back arrow on the top left like all the other tabs. In order to go back to the systems menu I would have to swipe to go back or press the left arrow on the bottom ( instead of gesture navigation).
I later installed organic maps and it failed to load my location ( if was stuck in the loading part - location icon shows a radar needle spinning) but I still saw that Organic maps was shown in recent access list. Checking the locations permissions for Organic Maps, I saw that the ‘Use precise location’ toggle was on and that location was accessed even though nothing appeared on the app.
My final test before writing this post was to go to the advanced privacy app → fake geolocation setting. In the apps’ manage my location setting when selecting ‘Use my real location’ the image from Maplibre was not loading and I would only see a spinning circle telling me that the location was still loading ( even after 10 min wait) . I know I am in a good GPS signal location since my Samsung S9 is working just fine in the same spot.
