I realized today that live traffic stopped working without any notification. I think it is time for me to either go for the paid version or to swap to some other app. (Android Auto which is a pro feature as well still works. But I guess it is impossible to prevent me using it without updating Magic Earth.)
How OS version and MagicEarth version do you have?

Magic Earth is the version that has been pre-installed. It is version 7.1.25.34.36A60BB6.67629954 com.generalmagic.magicearth.
I cannot really check, I only realized that I happened to end up in a traffic jam. When scolling out and checking, I did not see any “red” roads on the map in today’s rush hour traffic.

No Aurora store and just did the OTA update, so this should be the version coming with /e/OS. The traffic info is working for me. But it seems I have to allow Magic Earth to use mobile data, even if Wifi is available.
Never mind. I did the map update and now it is back. Problem solved, traffic info is back.
Online-only map access is a disadvantage in many ways. For myself, even if the whole Google/privacy/security problem were not an issue for me at all, I would still strongly prefer to use a mapping app that downloads the maps to your local device.
The Internet is not always “on”, and I still want to know where I’m going.
I’ve gotten stuck with the latest version of Magic Earth (7.1.25.51.etc). Is there any way to manually roll back to the 7.1.25.34 version in the App Lounge?
I am switching over to CoMaps, but until I figure out how to get my ME Favorites/Bookmarks moved into CoMaps, I’m also still using ME.

I installed update via Aurora Store, now can’t see any way to roll back to previous version. Aurora Store offers a “manual download” option of whichever version of an app that you want. I did that, trying to go back to the 7.1.25.34 version; it acted like it worked, but I’m still running 7.1.25.51.
I also tried switching ME app management back to the App Lounge, but not seeing any option there to install the older version.
The app itself is now quite slow loading, slow executing, and can’t add or update (or delete) maps w/o a paid subscription.
When attempting the manual download did you notice that you must define your revision by a “code” like this Premium version Magic Earth - #14 by smu44 rather than the actual version number?

The weird thing is, Aurora Store shows that it successfully downloads the older version, and then immediately offers me the option to open the app … and I’m not seeing any clear signal from Aurora Store that it’s actually installing the older version. And when I do open it, I am still running the latest version.
… to open the wrong one! I can recall something like this, maybe worth to try again. I cannot help very much but I do remember wondering how to take the “other path” to the downloaded version.
Oooh, this is interesting.
After the manual download, if I just leave it alone for 15-20 seconds, I get a “failed to install” error message … specifically “invalid or corrupted apk”.
Absolute random speculation on my part, but I propose that Magic Lane somehow managed to “poison pill” the earlier versions so people can not roll back.
Try to uninstall updates from settings->apps (should also work from Aurora), then reinstall with Aurora and the number if necessary.
That would be a reset to initial factory settings, losing all of my personal data … kind of defeats the point of keeping the app on my phone. I guess I could still re-import my bookmarks afterwards, but it’s just getting to be too much trouble, as I’m already switching over to CoMap.

Are you sure it will also delete data and not just change the versionnumber? I can test it later on my testing device if you want
