Metallic voice on "Here We Go" navigation app on a Fairphone 3 with E/OS

After a long search I found the Here We Go app as the best navigation app for my purposes. I had it installed and all was functioning well. After I did a reset on the phone I installed Here Wego again. This time it has a strange metallic voice.
Can’t find anything about the problem on the Here Wego forums.
Does anyone know what might be wrong?

A suggestion for a good alternative which respects privacy and has off line cards and is off course free is also welcome. I don’t believe I can still pay for apps on a E/OS phone can I?

An /e/ builder from XDA as reported using “Phonesky” whitch is a “gogol play” patched to work with microG even for paid apps

Why not changing voice in the settings option of the app ?

Thank you Piero. It is independent of the voice chosen. There something wrong. Discovered a similar question on this forum but did not find a solution.
