Microg maps api - can offline maps be used?

Hello,

first of all, thank you to the people who provide /e/OS and it’s components!

I just started with it and can say that microg maps works, but I was not able to find out how? I could not find any documentation of which maps are used instead of google, and how this can be configured.

My problem is that I have to use an app that use embedded google maps, but I have to use it offline. So, I’d like to know if I can use microg maps API inside /e/OS so it uses maps I locally store on my device.

On the /e/OS description site is written that magic earth is used, but I was not able to find any preinstalled application or setting for it. Is it embedded somewhere in the system? Is it the program the microg maps API is using? Or did they kick it out meanwhile and I have to install it manually?

I read also that the decision for magic earth was made because offline maps are possible. But If I install magic earth and load the maps offline and then cut network connection, my app that uses the microg maps API shows only a grey background.

Any hints appreciated!
