Migrate to Android 14 (U) or stay on 13 (T)? / Migrer sur Android 14 (U) ou rester sur la 13 (T)?

(translated version)

Hello,

I’ve just taken the plunge and installed /e/OS on my Pixel 5.
However, the version installed is Android 13 (T). Is it possible to have an official version of /e/ Android 14 (U) or can I install the community version?

If I install the community version, how can that be done?
Will all my applications (especially banking) still work?

Thank you

PS: you should add a test on the web install for the presence of adb, and ask for it to be installed if it’s missing.

Bonjour,

The Pixel 5 is a strange case. It was sold on the store why it has official build but the bootloader wasn’t lockable. You are not bound for OTA OS Upgrade. Not sure if there will be Official in the future. They stopped it for my Pixel 4a at one point.

@Manoj Can you maybe let us know about the current status?

The Pixel 5 redfin bootloader is lockable as you can check in the install guide

As mentioned earlier where possible we will share OTA OS upgrades for devices we sell on our Murena store. Will update if there are plans to OTA upgrade the redfin from T to U

Oh, I see. I missed the lock bootloader step

Did you lock your bootloader?

Yes, I’ve re-locked the bootloader.
By the way, I have the message ‘Your device has loaded a different operating system’ with a yellow icon, but it seems normal.

When I used to have a FP3 with locked bootloader I didn’t have that message. Maybe it differs per device. Well, with lockboot loader if you want to switch to community you need to open it again. Then you wipe all your data and have to recover it pro backup.

When bootloader is open, you can follow the installation guide to install your choice. I think with community you can’t lock the bootloader, some have posted here about such problems.

If you have any other questions or unclear things, just ask.
