Mobile Data appears as “not working” and affects only some apps (FP6, /e/OS 3.3)

Scenario:
I have a newly acquired FP6 with pre-installed /e/OS on it. I have two phone numbers, a pre-paid SIM of the country I live in and an e-sim of the country I emigrated from. They are both in the European Union, so I normally use the e-sim’s internet mobile data as it is cheaper. As such, the e-sim is set to roaming.

Problem:
Something very peculiar happens which prevents me from using my mobile data. When I am only on mobile data, I get some exclamation marks put on both of my signal trackers in the top right side of the screen. However, I can call, text on WhatsApp or Signal, view my mails. I can even use the Murena Browser, although I have the header with “No Internet Connection”. What I cannot do is that I cannot use any internet banking apps, any public transport apps, or any other browsers. The 5G symbol also shows up when the internet is supposedly not working.

When I connect to Wi-fi the exclamation marks disappears from the signal trackers, but then of course I am using wi-fi not data. I have not tinkered with any settings.

Has anyone encountered something like this before? It is very frustrating. I was going to top-up my prepaid to have internet but I am worried that won’t work either. Thank you!

Did you test if your VPN was not the problem?

Hey! Any VPN was offline. Or do you mean the built in “block private trackers”? I tried with both modes and it didn’t render a better result.

Update: I topped up my prepaid physical and that one does not work either, I just dont don’t have mobile data on SOME apps and browsers.

Hello everyone,

After some debugging and reading of documentation, it turns out that the APNs for both sim cards were generated partially wrong. I inputted the right information and now they both work. Thank you!
