Murena and Oruxmaps on Fairphone 6 /e/os

Hello,

I would like to buy a Fairphone 6 under /e/os for my wife. She is just a standard user, no knowledge on degooglized phone.

One of the more used app is Oruxmaps. It’s a GPS for bikers, hikers etc.

1/ Do you think this app will work 100%?

2/ I bought in the past this app through Play store for a Samsung A71. Do you think e/os/ will recognize that I bought the app in the past via Google Pla’ystore?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Yvan

Hey,

most of the GPS-Apps work fine. If you bought it, you have to Login with your Google account in APP Lounge.More Information can be found Here: App Lounge

Can I use paid apps/in app purchases available with Google play store?

App Lounge supports Sign in with Google to install/update apps purchased from the Google Play Store, but it does not currently allow in-app purchases or new paid app purchases. You do have two options if you want to purchase an app.

Option One: Purchase the app from the developer’s website. This would allow you to avoid relying on a third party (such as Google) to prove ownership of an app purchase.

Option two: Use another phone that has the Google Play Store and purchase apps with a Google account. Back in /e/OS, use the same account in the App Lounge to install/update the purchased app.

We recommend option one, but if you choose option two, we recommend creating a new Google account to avoid account issues and also have some privacy”

I never tested Oruxmaps on Murena.

I use Alpinequest under /e/os et it works very well (I’m a mountain guide).

Although I had already a googleplay paid version on my previous phone, I bought it again following these instructions.

I find alpinequest and oruxmaps equivalent, with alpinequest being easier to use.

You can also try Osmand~ downloaded from AppLounge, this will give you very similar features as Oruxmaps but for free.

Osmand has full offline topographic maps, with shading, altitude contour lines, 3D and can even overlay official topographic maps from several countries.

Hi. I have Oruxmaps in my Oneplus 11 and its running fine on e/os 3.7.3. The reason using it instead of open source alternatives is that it alows me download high quality topographic maps provided by national land survey of finland.

Hello,.

Thank you very much attila89 for the answer.

I really appreciate Oruxmaps. For example:

1/ Brouter directly integrated

2/ Live Sharing of position

3/ Highly configurable

Therefore I will have a look to Alpinquest.

Hello,

I have bought the FairPhone6 under e/os/.
I have created a dedicated Google account to buy apps (in this case Oruxmaps) through App Lounge.
Therefore when I want to pay Oruxmaps I have got an message of this kind :

This Google account isn’t yet associated with any device. Please access the Play Store app on your device before installing any apps.'”

How can I do?

Please find a screen shot of the Google account (sorry I’m French then everything is in French):

Rrgards.

Just for cross-reference: FP6 under e/os/ with Oruxmaps - Fairphone 6 - Fairphone Community Forum

Hello,

I had to connect the new Google account to the entire smartphone, not just to App Lounge.
Now it seems to work. I will make tests later.

Regards.
