First of all - great initiative! Highly appreciated !
I have installed /e/os two times on the same phone (Moto g 5g plus “nairo”). Observations from first install on a stock Android 11 (native phone OS);
- Manual installation worked well according to installation documentation.
- Setup smooth
- App (danish MitID) requiring Play service integrity check etc. pass, did not work. Claimed phone was rooted and/or boot loader not locked. App (danish Betalingsservice) failed as well of unknown reasons.
- FileManager+ cannot access Google drives but works e.g. for OneDrive
- Certain apps in App Lounge will not install for unknown reasons but most apps will
- Netflix, HBO, DR TV, TV2 Play with Chromecast interface do not work w/ Chromecast. VLC do work!
To test an alternative to /e/os, I then flashed Lineage 22.2 for “nairo”. No problems w/ item 4,5 and 6 but 3 is replicated.Then e/os flashed on Lineage 22.2. Observations:
- Installation w/o problems
- Setup: impossible to configure screenlock. Setup will not accept any change and claims lock has been set already not true (unless inherited from wiped Lineage)
- Same problems again w/ item 3-6.
My preliminary conclusion:
/e/os still have several problems for Moto g 5g plus. It seems installation is dependent on phone OS history (which I believe is a problem). Chromecast interface sucks for many apps. I’ll be happy to test any trial updates addressing one or more of the issues described above.
