I use a fairphone 5 with /e/os (currently 3.6), and when I just restarted the phone, suddenly there was a new, second camera app icon that looks different to the usual one (see screenshot). Does anyone have any idea what’s going on there?

with a new ff6 and after installing /e/os I only see one camera app. A view months ago I bought a murena FF6 and there was 2 different camera apps. Did you bought via Murena store?

but I’ve had the phone for two years and I didn’t change anything, didn’t buy or install anything new. it just appeared out of nowhere when I restarted the phone.
@piero: are you saying fairphone just installed new, additional camera apps on all existing phones (or all existing fairphone 5s)? that would be reassuring, but it also sounds a bit weird to me? did they announce that anywhere, do you maybe have a link where they say so? that would help me a lot. thanks!
Strictly speaking, the app was there on your phone for some time, but it needed to be “activated”. In update 3.4 Murena made the app instantly available – without activation necessary anymore – for everyone using a Fairphone 6. My guess is that they did the same to the Fairphone 5 now although the 3.6 release notes do not include a message like the one for version 3.4 for FP6 did.

No, the .APK comes from Fairphone, but was added by /e/ some mounth ago. (you had to choice the default one), now both are hightlighted.
