2 days ago, I reset my FP5. Yesterday, I found that I could not make phone calls but, standard texting and wifi were working. today, I have no connectivity at all - I cannot connect via wifi, ethernet or data. The reset installed e/0s version 3.0.4-t-20250709507786-official-FP5 and I had intended to run the update to 3.1.1 this morning but, now cannot. so, my phone is completely unusable.
The only thing I did that was different from previously is to set up a second user account on the phone. Could this be causing a problem?
Really strange - I left the phone switched off for several hours and did some gardening. I have just come back with the intention of transferring my sim to an old iphone so, that I had a phone that I could use. But, I thought that I would just switch on my FP5, just in case it might magically start working again - and it did! Wifi and data sim both working as as well as yesterday - I still cannot make or receive phone calls though.
So, I am going to use my old iphone to test my data service, to see if I can make phone calls on that. Then, I will update my support ticket accordingly.
Has anyone else had similar strange issues with connectivity?
Should I cross my fingers and apply the 3.1.1 update to see if that fixes everything?
considering that (“factory-” I think) reset, maybe a good time to go up to a15 official? nobody really maintains those a13 branches, kernels or vendor firmware anymore. After upgrade, then look at bugs again.
I went ahead and applied the upgrade to 3.1.1 and all seems to be well. It is the first time that I have had a problem with the phones, through a number of upgrades / factory resets I have always assumed that the “official” versions of e/os were less likely to have issues.
I just had a look at the release notes and they indicate that this release is more aimed at FP6 users who have had problems with the 3.1.2 upgrade. We have FP5s. So, I might wait and see what other FP5 users say when they install it.
Clearly the introduction of fp6 and /e/OS v-3.x.x has been “hard work”. Well done to the devs for attempting it.
community users have got used to Upgrade Android version in a timely way … that is perhaps not at first release.
An official user is not bound to wait for OTA Android version upgrade. It will arrive in due course. Users accustomed to careful backup can simply upgrade Android version in their own good time.
