[French below]
My Redmi Note 7 regularly loses its mobile data connection (Belgian operator: Voo, then Orange). The same thing happens with my old Samsung, which also runs on /e/OS. I changed the SIM card, but the same thing still happens. It’s as if the data disappears when you change relay towers. When abroad (Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, southern Norway), I have no access to data, but I can make phone calls. Strangely, there are no problems in central Norway.
I am running /e/OS 2.2-r-20240719418592-dev-lavender, but the mobile phone has not been updated since 19 July 2024. It says there are no updates available.
Any idea?
For mobile data:
Have you doublechecked APN-settings in your device against the specs of your provider?
For updates:
Have you tried deleting the cache (and/or storage) of the “updater”-app? (Device settings → apps → all apps → show system apps [in 3-dot menu in upper right corner] → updater → storage+cache → delete cache)
Hello,
Thank you for responding so quickly. I just entered the APN data manually, even though Orange claims that it is automatic. For now, I have internet access again, which is great! But we’ll have to see if it continues to work over time and in different locations. Sometimes it disconnects within a minute or a few hours, or when I’m travelling by car.
Thank you also for the updater cache (in French, ‘gestionnaire de mise à jour’). I deleted the cache, but the updates are not happening. The message remains the same: ‘You are currently using the latest version of /e/OS’. Using the ‘Refresh’ button or restarting does not change anything.
Maybe deleting not only cache but also app-data or storage (not sure how it is called in English or French, “the other option for deleting on the left side”) is worth the try.
But unless you have the “pro”-device, the redmi note 7 is not supported anymore from what I see, no clue if there has been a more recent build at all, in that case updater won’t find anything anyways…
2.2-r- was the last of the Android 11 (R) builds published (and I guess the phone never made it to Android 12 (S) ). The message is valid for community even though Unofficial is available.
Have you tried unchecking unspecified in your bearer in APN settings and checking LTE ? Then save. This would force the phone to stay on LTE. When you then select LTE only in network priority, it should always stay on LTE.
I had this issue in Redmi 3s on Lineage OS. This is how I resolved it.
