Norwegian banking (BankID) status, as of summer '26

Hello all good people,

I’m strongly considering buying a FairPhone 6, specifically preloaded with the /e/OS option. The only lacking thing that I need to check out is about app compatibility specifically with the above mentioned app; the Norwegian BankID. And yes, I have read the “Trouble with BankId“ thread (see Trouble with BankId , but it was closed back in September 2025, and only covering /e/OS up to version 3.1.2).

Provided that I’ll purchase a FairPhone 6 now, I expect it will come with either /e/OS version 3.7 or 4 preloaded, so the situation may have changed.

Hi, I have used Fairphone with /e/OS continously since the post you referred to, and there has been no trouble with BankId since /e/OS 3.1.2. I recently upgraded to 4.0.

Other issues: Vipps needs to be reset from time to time, but less often lately. Coopay used to work, but now it’s impossible to activate. All other apps I use is working. Work accounts can be an issue, if they have a strong device policy.

I say, go for it!

Hi, I had no issues activating Norwegian banking and ID-apps on my new Fairphone 6 with /e/OS 4.

Hi! I am using BankId app and Vipps on FP6 /e/OS 4, and have no issues​:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I am also able to use Sparebanken Norge app!
