OTA update category : instant crash

Hi,
I’m running e/OS 2.6.3 (Android 13) on Xiaomi Mi 10T lite 5G (Gauguin).

About 3 days ago, the OTA update category displayed a new sub-heading “update to e/OS v”. I guess it’s Android 15.

Problem: when I click on this category, the Android settings crash instantly. And if I try again I get the error message “update manager crashes systematically”.

Do I have to upgrade manually (via fastboot) to version 2.9t for this bug to disappear?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

latest /e/OS community gauguin download is currently e-2.9-t, you can update :

  • using “local update” in → settings → system updater → 3 dot menu → locale update
  • or rebooting the device into recovery-e mode and using adb sideload command,

currently for this device, fastboot command is only used to flash recovery

I think the v is the part of 2.6.3v and the string is missing.

Community builds need to be manually upgraded from t->a14(u), a14(u) → a15.

The update option no longer exists in the system settings section. It has been moved to the settings root.

Anyway, I’ll wait for version a14 or a15 to come out and update with fastboot.

Did you refresh manually? If you are using Murena cloud then 2.9 is important for Notes.

Seeing that both

  • e-2.6.3-t-20241219455848-community-gauguin.zip and two weeks later in January,
  • e-2.6.4-t-20250104459146-community-gauguin.zip

were published, it is looks like an improved version of e-2.6-t was published for gaugin.

Thus you are 4 months behind with a perhaps less than perfect version so not in the best possible position to wait it out for Android 14, I would suggest.

Please just check in your System updater > top right 3 dot menu, that Local update is available to you

then, as said by @piero, you can simply download
e-2.9-t-20250325478876-community-gauguin.zip with the phone and have the System updater apply the update, where Local update will allow you to navigate to the downloaded file.

I’ve just found the source of this bug.

It appeared when I updated the sensitiveProps module.

I disabled it, now I can see the updates without crash

@Geekborg
You’ve kept it from us until now that your ‘Gauguin’ is rooted with MagisK and Shamiko [Zygisk Module] is installed.

That is why he needed to find the issue by himself

There was a clue

… not a translation issue it seems.
