Pay for apps in App Lounge/Google Play Store

Hi community,

If an app is good and I need to pay, I have no problem to pay for it. Bot now I het confronted to pay via Google Pay. Adding a card, adding Paypall, PaysafeCard, enter a code or Google Play credit are the options. So.. Everything via Google.

Curious how you handle this of you want to buy/pay for an app.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if it works with every app, but when I needed to pay for an app, I logged into my account over the Browser, payed with my crédit card and then switched into using the app again. That worked quite well..

Thanks for your answer. You must know I switched from iPhone iOS to Fairphone /e/OS. I only have 5 days experience with /e/OS now. So everything is new for me.

I am logged in anonymous in the App Lounge. The app in question in my case is atvremote. But I don’t think that doesn’t matter. My question in general is, I need to add financial data into Google Pay. We want to use /e/OS to get rid of sharing data with Google isn’t it? For payments we still need to share data with Google so it looks like.

I found some atvremote on APKpure:

I wonder if that’s the same one, and if needs paying for it. If so, how would it work if obtained from APKpure  Just an idea, not sure if that’s what you needed @e.jumble927 …

The one on top is the same one. I didn’t know of APKpure. Thanks for redirecting. Could be usefull in the future. I was able to download the app from the app lounge. It works. But for the Pro features you need to pay. It’s not much money. Wanted to know how this all works. I’m only 5 days old in the /e/OS environment

Downloaded the app but was not able to purchase the pro features. So it’s actually an in-app purchase. Must be some MicroG setting is my guess. But not sure. As said, I’m completely new in this /e/OS world.

Well, I never paid for any app through itself. I have a proton account where I pay monthly, but as someone pointed out earlier, I could set up the payment via browser access, either on PC or the mobile.

Don’t they offer the payment set up redirection to a browser process which could bypass the despicable google? :slightly_smiling_face:

Ik think I’m going to email the developer. funny thing is that he has an apple icloud email adres. I read a few other topics in this community. It more or less looks like a general /e/os thing as far as I can see. On the other hand these topics are really old.

You would be looking for the options in

Some apps indeed force you to connect to your google account in AppLounge and/or MicroG/AppCompatibility-menu in order to pay, but that is not always the case: from what you say, you can pay directly within the app with a card, and indeed many apps offer a payement method independent of google-play, like card-number, bank wire-transfer, or web-browser interface to log in with an account and pay there as @MartCologne said.

I don’t know about Google pay. I just do it old way with debit cards.

In the AOSP there are many free open source things. This is remote I use for Android TV boxes.

In f-droid store, free open source.
