Photos taken on my FP6 not syncing to Murena photos folder either on PC or on phone

I’m trying to sync photos taken on my FP6 with the photo app in Murena, but can’t find the button or menu to do it.

The photos do not appear in Murena photos folder, either on my phone or on my PC.

Can anyone tell me how to link the photos I take with the photos folder in Murena?

Update - the photos are now in the Murena gallery of my FP6, but not on my PC. Dop I just wait and hope?

This came up on another thread, linked below. It is possible that photo sync is off on the device.

You need to check

Settings > Accouts > Check here that Auto Sync is toggled ON > tap on your_own_named Murena account > and check if photo sync is on. As:

In my Murena account I have them all checked except images and videos. I had to uncheck this option because I have a lot of audio files to listen to music on my phone and it gave me warnings as I have only 1GB in my free subscription. Murena seems to include audio files in “Images & videos”

So it looks as if I only have the following choices:

  • I remove most of my music files to get below 1GB, and then my photos will synch,
  • Transfer them manually to my PC with a USB cable,
  • Get a paid subscription for 20GB (or more - I have a lot of music).

Or is there a way around it?

Yes it is unfortunate that all potentially large files belong to one toggle. More on the support page

Mentioned there is to use Nextcloud in addition as this (rather older guide) Install and connect Nextcloud app to your /e/cloud drive to unveil its true potential. Nextcloud documentation is comprehensive.

Edit, or you might simply sync photos to a third party cloud like Ente. Manual only sync allows not to upload every image as it is taken.

I have tried this and when I click on “Login” at the “Connect to your account” screen, it says acces not authorised

Current method:

… the documentation mentions the use of

Nextcloud App password .

The documentation may look over complicated, but you are the Admin of your Murena account.

Probably at this stage you should

  • be already logged in by PC to murena.io.

  • At the stage in question I expect you to see the “request access” to come in from Nexycloud.

  • Nextcloud will drive the request for “App password”.

  • Both sides will keep the password, no more user interaction, but I suggest be prepared to copy and save the password generated.

I hope this is approximately right (be prepared for deviation).

I’ve tried but to no avail. The message adds “The status tokens do not correspond”.

Maybe I should try from my PC rather than my phone (Fairphone 6)

Looks like you are at least part way there.

I suggest to back off. Wait. Power down and restart both devices. Meanwhile re read the current documentation and pay the most attention to that.

I’ve managed to get in, through using the second option presented, to log in through an existing provider.

But I can’t seem to log in from my desktop using the murena.io credentials. I’ll keep trying, and try to understand what I’m doing wrong

I may not have a good vocabluary in the context of “The Cloud” The (Original /e/OS) murena.io is capable of setting up a Triange of cloud, phone and PC. We had that already.

Now you introduced Nextcloud. The aim of the HowTo is to have Nextcloud installed on the phone to provide improved granularity in what you upload

  • to the Murena Cloud
  • from the phone.

There is no new “Triangle”. Are you saying that your PC now fails to do something with murena.io which it used to do?

Without waiting for the answer …

A new “Triange” (and imho complexity) would arise if you installed Nextcloud on your PC. Personally I would not do that till I was comfortable that the HowTo has worked.

As far as I know there is no change to what murena.io can do on my PC

The whole point of using NextCloud for me is to be able to have my photos available on my phone and PC. I wanted to avoid applications like Dropbox

The HowTo (only) delivers a solution to decide how to use your cloud’s limited capacity.

One way to use it is to upload “best of” phone photos to cloud and then access them from PC.

Maybe this is only of limited value to solve the full dilemma of Post #4.
