So since upgrading to 3.0.4 on the 7a I have noticed some immediate battery drain, typically happening when I am either on a call, or if using Signal Video. Prior to the upgrade the device would retain it’s batter power quite well. However, lately I could be at 60% power and within a very quick period of time, noticeably, the device gets to a low percentage and shutsdown. I have not made configuration changes. I am willing to wait until 3.1 is released and hope it gets fixed but wanted to note the issue.
after updates battery use can be up, if that behaviour continues though, search the forum for “battery historian” that can debug in detail where heightened energy use originates from
Appreciate the feedback I will explore this more and keep an eye on it. Excited for the 3.1 to really upgrade and hope the A15 brings more battery improvements
Ok this is a resolution to this issue, turns out the Pixel 7a has an extended repair program, so anyone running into symptoms like myself of a battery drain, battery bloat and/or smelling the battery acid by the usb-c connection will be smart to check in on this.
