I have a Fairphone 6 running e/OS/ but I find a couple of apps that give error messages. If I drill down I’m told that the error messages relate to sideloading or jail broken phone. I am directed to install from PlayStore.
Assuming the need to use Playstore is correct, can I safely install Playstore, download /installthe apps & then disable Playstore without screwing up the phone?
App install origin shouldn’t be the problem itself.
AppLounge already is 1. downloading directly from the playstore for commercial apps - and 2. is masquerading as official Playstore when apps query where they were installed from.
See App Lounge | /e/OS documentation
It should be up to to system checks the Apps run or missing subfunctions they rely on aren’t present in what is the surrogate to Google Play Services: see microG | /e/OS documentation - check out the headline “Passing Play Integrity (Basic)” if you have difficulties with banking apps.
Thanks folks. I’ve tried uninstalling & re-installing while logged into Google but still no go. I’m not going to sweat this further as I can use a web interface which, while less convenient, works well enough.
