Hi, after installing /e/ os, I spent a couple minutes looking around and was wondering how the weather app worked without having connected to wifi. So I checked network settings and suddenly saw I used over 40MB of mobile data. I have no data plan so using mobile data is very expensive for me (€0,5/MB).
Could you guys PLEASE either give an option to enable/disable during install or disable by default? This has been a costly first impression…
I didn’t get any option for mobile data, only wifi. @piero
Pretty sure the only difference I had compared to the first/fresh boot in this video was the addition of the “Find my Device” page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FikqN4NE8Kg
I’ve read everything carefully so it’s not like I would have skipped it.
there used to be that kind of setup wizard screen and warning under the variable “choose_data_sim_summary” and read:
<string name="choose_data_sim_summary" product="tablet">Which SIM do you want to use for data? The selected SIM may incur network charges as it will be used to set up your tablet.</string>
(an italian version of that page an be seen in the second screenshot in this issue)
it was merged into a new combined wizard page in 2021 and remnants of that variable removed in 2023:
The wifi page doesn’t have the same kind of warning. But I haven’t got a testdevices with a SIM card. Just by source I can’t see a warning. Worth to file this in the backlog?
