Preview of App Lounge

I am considering making the jump and buying into the /e/OS ecosystem, buying a Fairphone through Murena. One of the things I want to see (not read about) is the App Lounge. I can do the equivalent with Google Play Store from my Windows desktop, browsing the categories and seeing what’s available. Same with the Samsung Galaxy Store. Doing both helps one understand their ecosystems.

This doesn’t seem easy with the /e/OS App Lounge. How can I access it to browse the available apps from a Windows desktop? Is this possible? No amount of searching to date has given me this answer.

Hello,
App Lounge isn’t a store. It’s a client to f-droid.org and googol play store. So you can see what’s available on there sites.

Not a preview but might help your research App Lounge.

Thanks. Very helpful. As someone who’s used to absorbing information, I’m puzzled why I missed this.

Thanks. Yes, I’d gone through most of that information, but the inability to browse available de-Googled apps remained puzzling. I think I’m up to speed now.

While /e/OS degoogles the operating system users are still exposed to all sorts of apps that may or may not be very privacy friendly!

App Lounge has a tie in with Exodus Privacy. You can certainly explore Exodus online.

A nice feature of App Lounge is that one can check out the privacy score of apps before you install. In this pair of images I am searching App Lounge for a “gallery app” and in this screenshot you get just a glimpse of the scoring. This score from Exodus can be followed through within App Lounge.

This is a high value answer. Thank you very much. This is a great resource for getting advance information about app behaviour prior to making a commitment to /e/OS/. Knowing that the Advanced Privacy options give you potential control over any visible trackers and notifications offers the ability to joint the dots up.

F-Droid and Exodus Privacy are valuable resources for those, like me, who are evaluating the /e/OS/ ecosystem.

Many thanks.
