Problem with Google Authenticator

Hello everyone,

I received my brand new Fairphone Gen 6 yesterday and installed Google Authenticator, as “Bidget” only accepts this for 2-factor authentication.

Unfortunately, I cannot scan a QR code with the app. I keep getting an error message saying “An error has occurred.”

I have tried everything. I’ve granted permission for the camera to be used everywhere and deleted and reinstalled the app several times.

It just doesn’t work.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Many thanks!
Best regards
Steiranius

Google Authenticator implements standard MFA methods (TOTP and HOTP), so any other authenticator app implementing the same would be OK instead of Google Authenticator.
I’d recommend trying Aegis Authenticator, it is free and open source and won’t tie you to the Google ecosystem.
