Problems with Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0

so you can use linux Galaxy-Flasher, the ultimate graphical tool for Samsung devices

or Revert Samsung Device to stock ROM on Windows PC

I couldn’t answer yesterday, because the forum didn’t let me.

I was able to upgrade the boot loader version. I’m not sure though if that helped. I still can’t get into the recovery after flashing the recovery image. I don’t remember how many times I tried again, but it was a lot.

I tried different variant, as you described to go from the download mode to the recovery, but in the end it’s always the same. When I keep pressing power and volume up, I stay in a reboot loop and I see a warning about not running official Samsung software.

When I let go of the buttons I see an error screen “SECURITY CHECK FAIL : recovery.img” … “Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked.”

… when I restore Samsung stock images and re-lock the OEM again, I see this:

I don’t know what to do anymore. I can’t go forward and I can’t go back. It feels as if I broke it …

P.S. I would have liked to add screenshots for the first 2 screens as well, but again … the forum doesn’t let me.

In your regular Download mode screen do you see Prenormal ?

and / or do you see the exact phrase

Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed(RECOVERY)

You might search this page Know your hardware - Samsung for those terms for clues to what this might mean.

no

no

Is the bootloader really unlocked ?

Is the bootloader really unlocked ?

Right now: no. As I said, after all failed attempts to install eOS, I’ve put back all Samsung Stock images and relocked the bootloader, and it’s still broken.

So i am not surprised that you cannot flash the custom recovery

So i am not surprised that you cannot flash the custom recovery

Why? Sorry, but I feel like I repeat myself here.

It was unlocked, when I tried to install eOS. Otherwise I would get an error anyway during flashing the recovery image. I failed, again and again. Gave up. Then I tried to restore original Samsung software, locked the bootloader again, and the device will not even boot that anymore. That’s what the screenshot is showing. As soon as I start the device now, I get that screen.

Right now it’s not even about installing eOS anymore, but at least making it work with Samsung stuff again. And I am failing at that, too …

Downgrading from T290XXS 5 CWG5 to T290XXU 3 CVG3 is not possible because of the revision bit

I’m confused again. Where is T290XXS 5 CWG5 now coming from?

I suppose it was the version previously installed as it is the latest firmware for this device

no, it wasn’t
