Question about micro G, data security, and new Google settings in the app

answered here per question, more generally in your german lang thread -Frage zu micro G, Datensicherheit und neue Google Einstellungen in der App .. the three hyperlinks in that answer imo are good intros: Question about Google - #2 by tcecyk

Or was that there before?

didn’t notice myself, the “microG” system settings entry was renamed to “App Compatibility” in a recent version.

I don’t remember turning that on.

Defaults are to enable most of the options, so you’d need to remember to actively having things turned off. It would be a bug if they turn back on (after updates).

I can explain some or most of the options, but if your intent is to be “google free” categorically, I’d just turn it all off?

Does that mean my device is registered with Google?

with some device identifiers, but no personal account, in any case your connection ip - it is the precondition to be addressable with cloud-messaging.

Play Store Services: Respond to license verification requests (Is this all through micro G?)

yes, all microG. licensing requests can also be done on “free apps”, but it too helps users that want to use a Google Account and linked/bought Apps.

What does “automatically add free apps to the library” mean?

if there’s an account attached, apps that are “free” will be listed in that account install history

Google Play Frature Delivery…?

“Feature .. delivery” and “on-demand asset delivery” - the latter Game assets usually. Some Apps will use that facility and crash if the classes to do so are not found or are disabled. A logcat can tell
