Hello, I was wondering if /e/OS will support RCS at some point or even use XMPP in the messaging app or something like that.

I would sponsor RCS support at this point. If it is an issue of money, perhaps there could be some kind of kickstarter?
Signal and the like are not the answer, if you need to force everyone you communicate with to switch messaging apps, then that is not going to happen.
I am also going to start looking into open source apps to see if there is anything out there that could work and not have privacy concerns, but if /e/OS would just have this by default it would be another removal of a barrier to entry for people coming from iOS and Android.
I think a barrier was, that it wasn’t encrypted. I have read recently that soon it should be possible. What is needed for it technically I have no idea…
@Manoj Can you comment anything about RCS? What is the view of the developers on it?

I’m going to switch from iOS to /e/OS but having no RCS is a concern.
Previously, I failed to get my friends to use Signal so that would be a huge step forward.
I’d also join in for a kickstarter if needed.
