my father (Farmer) is looking for a daily use phone. It doesent need any fancy features, its only needs to be robust and to be in a price range of 100-200€.
He mostly uses it for calling. Sometimes he has to take pictures, wants to use the internet browser or has to use apps for his work.
I would like a phone for him, which could be used at least for the next 5 years software and hardware wise. In best case with some sustainable features, like reparaiablity or a changeable battery. But it isnt that important.
I had the fairphone 3 and I liked it. But it wont be tough enough. He is a classic farmer with a robust(?) handling for his machines and stuff. And the working conditions (dust, rain, mud, oil, temperatures) are sadly not suiteable for a FP3.
Are there probabaly any “rugged” phones supported?
If not, you could look into appropriate cases and screen protectors to ruggedise an otherwise normal /e/OS supported phone, or just get a dust- and water-proof bag.
