One of our E/OS phones, a xiaomi poco x3 nfc, had a nasty fall. It does receive calls, but it’s impossible to pick them up, or interact in any way through the screen.
I would like to take the data out of the phone. I can’t get it through a usb cable, since that requires an interaction through the screen.
Do any of you know if it is possible to recover the data?
The screen shows random colors, but maybe we can test on the other xiaomi phone and type the exact keystrokes. Would a regular desktop usb keyboard with a usb-c to usb-a adapter do the trick?
getting a replacement screen is not the worst idea.
random colors.. I assumed you can still see at least parts of it but it doesn’t take touch input. Some phones can mirror the screen per hdmi (“MHL”) then, but looking up your device it can’t.
You could try to train touch positions to enable adb blindly, assuming the digitizer takes accurate signals.
Then for some devices twrp offers helpers to decrypt userdata. If the device is unlocked you can try booting twrp temporarily. I see twrps for other x3 variants, but not for -nfc though.
Actually, we can’t see any coherent information. I also don’t think it can take any input. Maybe a click in a big button, but certainly not a swipe, so we cannot get to the point of entering the pin.
So, yeah, maybe fixing the screen… if only for recovering my kid’s data.
