Samsung OEM unlocking on Galaxy A71 (SM-A716U)?

Hello Community,

Has anyone figured out how to enable Samsung OEM unlocking on the Galaxy A71 (SM-A716U)? I am eager to switch to /e/OS, but my device does not have the OEM unlocking toggle in Developer Options.

Note: Most /e/OS builds for the A71 target the international Exynos version (SM-A715F), while mine is the US/Canada 5G variant (a71xq, SM-A716U).

Has anyone successfully installed /e/OS or any custom ROM on this model, or knows another way to enable OEM unlocking on US/Canada variants? I’d also be happy to help test if a builder would like to create an a71xq build.

Hello @JPH, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

In short : you can’t unlock the bootloader of that device, choose another if you want to use alternative android OSes.
