Samsung S7 : SIM Card disables after seconds

Hello everyone,

I am considering switching to e OS on a Fairphone 6. I have been running a test system on a Samsung Galaxy S7 for quite some time now. All apps, including banking, seem to run smoothly on it. However, when I inserted a SIM card, it was recognized at startup but deactivated after a few seconds. Restarting the device produces the same result. Interestingly, a new connection is established as soon as airplane mode is turned on and off again. The system is up to date as of December 10, 2025 (3.3 herolte).

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a post in the forum that describes my problem. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I would also like to know if anyone has experience with e OS on a Fairphone 6 and how satisfied you are with it.

Thank you in advance!

Hello and welcome to this UserForum !

Could you be more precise about what carrier and what country is the sim card from ?

If i where searching for feedback about FP6, I would try this search.

EDIT : Just found this thread, did you already had a look before ?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I am based in Germany and use Drillisch/O2 (via SIM.de) a a carrier. Thanks for the tip about switching to e OS. I will watch this along with other videos on YouTube/Odysee

Hello @mopac2web, Welcome to the /e/ users forum.

.

for your s7 :

did you tried using another SIMcard ?
did you test your SIMcard in another device ?
did you already reset network settings in → settings → system → reset options ?

.

also this may help for your FP6 :

I tried a another SIM and it works on my Google Pixel, but both don´t work for long on my S7. It holds for 4-5 Seconds and disconnects. During this time I can receive and make phone calls and messages. I guess there must be a Software problem? I tried the reset of the network without any changes.

I had a s4 where mobile network was also instable,
my conclusion was it comes from hardware because i had no problem using the same /e/OS version on another s4
