Ensure your Murena Workspace account (e.email or murena.io ) has a recovery email
New and existing accounts without a recovery email will face reduced functionality for 30 days
Post that 30-day period the account will be marked for deletion.
The process will be the same for existing accounts without a recovery email
The deletion is not automatic, but the recommendation is that all Murena email account users would set up a recovery email ID and not wait for the deletion process to start.
To check if your Murena account has a recovery email set click here Learn how to set the recovery ID Read the Murena Terms of Service
We have not set a timeline for the deletion. It is not automated.
The idea is to not wait for the deletion but to set a recovery email. This is required in case a user loses access to the account. Do not wait for the account to get into a deletion stage.
Set the recovery email ID now, if it has not been set. We all end up forgetting our password or having some issues with the original email. Always good to have a recovery email ID set.
I don’t use Murena Cloud and rather want to have my own Nextcloud. That is why I asked. For Murena then it is also one free user less to take care of.
Hi,
The recovery email (Oulook) that was assigned as my recovery email, is the one i originally used when i bought my phone in 2023. Since then, I have been using my phone more and more and trying to close down Outlook and all 365 MS stuff as I no longer need any of it anymore. MS has gotten very difficult with my withdrawing because of my long history with them. I would prefer to have another Murena email as my backup and please use the Outlook email as infrequently as possible to contact me. Only use. xxxxxx@ murena.io unless you need in emergency an alternative.
Does the recovery email need to be something other than a Murena account?
Yes that is recommended. In the scenario where we have some issue with your Murena account it would be good to have an alternate email ID on which to receive any information. Recently we had a user accidently delete their murena ID. Passwords can get lost. Keeping an alternate ID is useful in such scenarios.
Why would we want to use that recovery email? Can you give a reason why we would want to use that recovery email if the murena ID is working. We already have an email which in case you want to recovery you use the recovery ID.
Pl do not share you email ID on the forum post. This is a public website and the email would be visible to all. I have masked it from the post.
Well i found three emails that came and I had not received the same emails at Murena. I have been trying to get totally away from my desktop/laptop and MS including that email from Outlook. I have been migrating everything important to my phone and i want to close the computer entirely. I missed those emails for four days. I’m sorry I am so frustrated right now. Everything was going so well.
Well for one thing @Manoj , i have always used the service for keeping ll my passwords. It is very handy, could not be easily found by someone else And I have workspace for all kinds of handy things like that. I sign in automatically and have everything right there…i love it
So do we but there are cases where the murena IDs may not work, as mentioned above. If you are keeping a gmail ID as backup do not use it for any other purpose. Enable 2FA on it and keep the usage minimal. Other better options for the recovery email exist like protonmail.
That sounds a good idea but I think that having a minimum of two email providers is a minimum to survive the digital world. You sound happy to treat /e/OS / Murena as your trusted provider … I suggest in dropping Outlook you should consider what should now be your “second line” provider.
Manoj, as many years ago as I can remember, I was avoiding gogul like poison. Maybe 10 years ago I had an account and cancelled it shortly after opening it. I don’t even want to use the name on Murena. I don’t understand the people who come to Murena a nd then start asking if they can use gogul services here. There is nothng 00 I have added to this phone,
I unfamiliar with protonmail and it sounds like a good option for me. Do you have a link? Manoj, I do appreciate all your help thank you
Yes @aibd I have been working on that for a couple of years now. MS has been like a right arm for many years and as I cancel subscriptions they resist in different ways. So I have a huge volume to sift thru and now the FREE Outlook account which. became part of the whole Office programs, that I used for business and personal for many years, is now being dangled. They’re saying, because I have stopped ALL subscriptions, that I have to pay for it.
An online version to access my free, originally, account. I don’t need or want everything on the computer. I have a year old, brand new Lenovo tablet that i have never used and I want to install /e/ on it.
Little by little I have been able to uninstall all the gugul stuff except for a couple of key embedded system files. I just don’t have enough time to do it ll as my first love is learning all about the latest version here.
@aibd hi thank you for your suggestions . Sure I have quite a few emails but I am trying to totally Get away from “the old ways.”. Security is becoming more and more important these days and Bitdefender, that I have been using, might not be totally compatible with my phone. By the way, I apologised to Manoj and took his advice- got a Protonmail account.
