Hello/Bonjour/Hola. I did my best navigating the arcane web of topics/sub-topics/tags, but I (might) need some help shunting this post into the most appropriate area, please.
Since the recent update (at least I don’t recall this behavior occurring before then), whenever I reboot my phone I am presented with a system generate (I assume) notification that “Sign-in required - Sign in to access Murena Workspace online on /e/OS.”
So, it’s clearly not required since I can swipe it away and use my phone normally/as usual, and the notification remains gone until the next time I reboot. I guess I’d like to understand: 1) why this notification is being generated now after this update; 2) if it is really important or not; 3) and if not how I might be able to turn it off. Thanks.
It’s a notification on my phone. It’s referring to Murena Workspace, but I don’t actually use (ever) Murena Workspace. It’s the notification itself that is the (minor) issue. The notification/prompt only started appearing as of last update.
This is the notification to encourage users to migrate to OpenID Connect (Single Sign-On or SSO). It’s designed to appear every time after a reboot until the users migrate to it.
It’s not directly related to the Murena Workspace app, but the overall Murena service.
I understand better. But are you saying that for users that have no interest in migrating to OpenID Connect/SSO or even using it (I’ve just described myself…I don;t login to anything Murena related with my phone, AFAIK), that they then have no way to permanently dismiss this notification? If so, and no offense intended, then isn’t that almost the definition of nagware?
I’ll drop the conversation at this point since my goal, i.e making Developers aware, is done. You/they can decide what you want to do from here as far as UX goes. Thanks for your time on this and additional information :–)
Good point. Will check on this with the developers and get back.
Update: The response from the developer is that this notification is shown only if the user is already signed in and has as yet not shifted to OpenID Connect/SSO. If you are not signed in there will be no notification.
