Hi
I’d like to skip massive updates and rebooting effort from 3.2 to current 3.6 and install it “clean” via Webinstaller. It failed unfortunately because the device doesn’t wanna reboot automatically into the bootloader when it is the time. I followed all instructions regarding the developer mode and so on. There is no error in the web browser / web installer. Device: Goodle Pixel 4. Grateful for any ideas and support.
Cheers

Hello @duqdive , Welcome to the /e/ users forum.
If you read just the start of this text because it gets cited in the forum: There are screenshots here, please have a look at them before assuming you know what this is about. Thank you!
As they say, every hint has its history . Where were we? Ah, yes …
You are running /e/OS on your device and want to give info about your version to get support, or a simple answer to a question, or anybody else to confirm whether they can observe the same behaviour you observe? Sure …
Your device will …
Android 16 based /e/OS has been released for this device !
since android T (13), lineageOS builds on witch /e/OS are based are expected to include the needed updated firmware partitions to make the build compatible without having to go back reinstalling the Stock OS (usefull for first install, AND even more for upgrading custom android version) for most of the supported devices..
to do it, you have several options :
they are the same as for regular update…
.
(it is recommended to take a backup of your things in case)
download the latest /e/OS build for your device
/e/OS community flame download
download the file on the phone, go to “→ settings → system updater” and use the feature called “locale update” (if you have it in the “3 dot menu” at top right of the screen).
or
download the file on the phone, reboot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from internal storage” (if your “recovery mode” have the feature).
or
download the file on a SDcard, reboot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from External SDcard” (if your “recovery mode” have the feature).
or
Universal Method , download the file on a computer, boot the phone into the recovery mode and use “apply update” then “from ADB” :
.
OTG support should also be possible.

just an aside, if you do not change the major android versions at the same time (a13->a15), why do that? it should just be one update 3.2->3.6

hi, it is not one update 3.2->3.6, it is 3.2->3.3->3.4->3.5->3.6. Or I don’t know where the option checkbox is to go from 3.2->3.6. That’s why I want to fresh install via webinstaller.

The updates are not incremental so if you missed a few and there are now say 4 updates showing on the System Updater just install the newest.
(Assuming you are talking about system updates only, that is excluding Android version upgrades).
