May have missed this part but under mobile network settings, when mobile data is turned off a new option may appear…
Been awhile since I checked but on the one device that did support it, I was able to send SMS.
the MMS setting is not about what’s discussed in this thread - SMS (over IMS basically). Anyway: the option enables EDGE retrieval of an MMS - if the operator still does MMS, it’s being mothballed increasingly
