Sony Xperia 5 IV (XQ-CQ54)

While there are builds for 5 III and 5 V, there is none for 5 IV. Would be amazing (for me) if there would be a build for 5 IV as well. Lineage OS does not support 5 IV either.

There is a little bit of discussion about custom roms for 5 iv in this thread, but that is the only vaguely relevant information I have found: https://xdaforums.com/t/do-sony-xperia-5-iv-has-any-android-14-rom-that-i-can-update-to.4694334/

Thanks!

You might check whether this is what Sony calls an Open device. Supported devices and functionality | Developer World .

But the device is on the list. I would also appreciate, if it was supported, because it is the device I currently own. It’s a wonderfuly phone and I’d like to keep on using it, without havin to buy a new one.

… are you able to add the device codename?

Thank you for your reply!

Well, at least this already is a thread with the correct device codename in brackets.

It has been added to Sony’s Open Devices program on November 3, 2022 and supported on https://developer.sony.com.

My device is still maintained, though it won’t be updated to Android 15 and still running the official Android 14 ROM.

I am afraid there is no repository found for XQ-CQ54 in LineageOS Repositories Search.

However if you wanted to do further research we find that the Sony product

Branding,Marketing,Device,Model
"Sony","Xperia 1 V","XQ-DQ72","XQ-DQ72"

is confusingly known to LineageOS as

DeviceProduct=XQ-DQ72
PRODUCT_DEVICE := pdx234

and found as GitHub - LineageOS/android_device_sony_pdx234.
This for instance is the search for Sony pdx LineageOS · GitHub

So there won’t be e/OS for the device if there is no other custom rom, such as Lineage, for whatever reason? Sad to hear that. Sounds like I have to buy a Fairphone if my Sony runs out of maintenance. But thanks for the support anyway!

Btw, I’m currently testing e/OS on a Samsung Galaxy S10e, which works stunningly well. Unfortunately, it’s quite demolished and lacks 5G.

It also lacks VoLTE.

My research was by no means exhaustive … more research to do by anyone interested in further liberating this device. I only searched for XQ-CQ54 and tried to describe the Lineage numbering. To aid further research I included the pdx* link but did not even search that [1]. I included the SailfishOS link as this uses platform name Nagara.

You can try LOS23 based ROMs I build from sources above:

lineage-23.0-20251202-UNOFFICIAL-pdx223.zip

lineage-23.0-20251202-UNOFFICIAL-pdx224.zip

When a15 based /e/OS is available I can make also an /e/OS-ROM

Thanks @ronnz98 I found it difficult to find the “conversion names” … your pdx224 → GitHub - sonyxperiadev/device-sony-pdx224 → Xperia 5 IV (aosp_xqcq54), while pdx223 is Xperia 1 IV.
