Stuck on e logo installing 3.04 on moto G6 plus

Hello,
I managed to unlock the bootloader and install the e-recovery.
I then managed to sideloaded the copy-partitions-20220613-signed.ziplike explained here Install /e/OS on a Motorola Moto G6 Plus - “evert”.
I got some strange error but it was fine in the end. I then sideloaded the .zip file as indicated it seemed all fine (step 2/2) but then “installation completed with status 0”.
When I reboot, the e dot keeps bouncing for hours, but nothing happens.
Adb does not seem to work anymore.
Tried sideloading via sd card. Same result.
Any help?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

I see on the install page

Before following these instructions please ensure that the device is on the latest Android 9 firmware.

It goes on to expand on how important this is for this build.

Are you confident you met that requirement?

Actually the whole message from sideload in e-recovery:
Supported API:3
Finding update packages …
Verifying update packages…
Update packages verification took 38.2 s (result 0).
Installing update…
Step 1/2
Step 2/2
Installation completed with status 0.

In e recovery it says: Active slot:b

Yes, I had android 9 and yes, no updates.

Is a success message.

if you can boot to Recovery you could try Factory reset from there. This will force another First boot.

I can go into fastboot and to recovery mode from there.
In e-recovery I choose format data / factory reset. Result:
–wipping data–
Formatting /data
Resetting memtag message
Data wipe complete

Reboot system now gives me the same result (-warning message bootloader - Motorola screen with verity mode is disabled and then the e with bouncing dot)

Could either:
1: Try too change the slot to a in fastboot
2: Retry to sideload the copy partition
3: Install an older recovery and e-os version

What do you think?

Recovery seems to be active sometimes in slot a and sometimes in b.
I reset factory settings and reinstalled via sd card e-os. Here are the print screens

If it helps understanding I think it more accurate to say that e-Recovery “reports Active slot”.

Of course with an effective install there should be no ghost of Stock Android.

I would be inclined to install the e-2.9xxx build, and yes, certainly, recovery and ROM. This would then populate the “other slot”.

If it helps, my understanding of the copy-partitions script is to harmonise the Stock Android versions across slots.

Verity mode is not to disabled

Is probably significant and worth searching the error …

https://xdaforums.com/t/verity-mode-is-set-to-disabled-remove-message.3927894/

… maybe the significance is mostly due to the nature of the “failed or partial” install ??

Installed 2.9 recovery without a problem. Should I do the copy partition or directly the e-os? It says signature verification failed.

TrIng to install the zip file.

Zip installation works, but e dot keeps bouncing.
So no progress.
Yes, one difference: every fifteen minutes thes system restarts.

Maybe it is a data encryption issue?
This site tells https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-32719.html “Userdata encryption should be disabled else the --disable-verification flag will result in a boot loop”

Anyone any suggestions?
There is a factory mode available in Fastboot, should I use it?

Format data is expected to overcome encryption.

Idk but Factory mode would require careful reading in the case you want to return to Stock. I never touched that option on my Moto.

So I tried the newest lineage os (without microg), which worked and actually booted. But the assistant works, but when it ask for location services) abd I click the next button, the screen goes black. Only the battery, wifi and back button appear. I can restart or piwer off the phone, but nothing else.

So could you give me a hint what I could possibly do?

  1. Try e-os version 2.8 or another one.
  2. Try another lineagebos version.
  3. Try factory mode or something similar. There are BP tools or stuff like this.
  4. Try install Twrp which maybe has more options
  5. Going back to stock ROM - Tried to find one with android, but nothing there with android 9?

Dont want to throw the phone away…

Thk you for your time, by the way.

With problems with /e/ and Lineage, unless I was very sure to have latest Stock firmware, I might go back to stock, I see Android 9 here lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.
