I’m not new to custom roms on phone but I’ve a specific question about the google pixel 9a.
I’d like to put mine in e/os, but I saw that the build was still made by the community.
Now I certainly don’t doubt that the community is pro enough to make an os but still I wanted to know since the device is recent for e/os, if it was stable? was there any known issue? If you have your 9a under e/os, is there any problem?
Just a quick check up to see because I don’t see a lot of people talking about it.
Can’t answer for 9a specifically but I am sure you have read this explanation?
(Only devices being sold (or have been in the past) by murena get official, nothing to worry about community in my experience, even gets updates OTA.)
The fact that you don’t find much talk about 9a might be because it just runs smooth (and it’s rather new so the userbase will still be small) maybe keep an eye on the build-feedback threads and also search for tegu.
Not true. All builds on /e/ servers are built by the /e/OS dev team. Unofficial and other Custom are built independenly. The different releases are explained Different Release Types.
The naming is perhaps referring to builds “for” the community, where official is built “for” the commercial arm, Murena (independent users are free to use it when available).
If in due course another Pixel became a phone that Murena chose to sell installed with /e/OS then an official build would be provided for it.
The naming changed ~2years ago; the former was previously called “development” while the latter was “stable”. That did somewhat draw attention to the nature of the developing of the project.
