Toggling airplane mode on and off needed for newly started apps to access internet

certain apps require me toggling airplane mode for them to access the internet.

I am on a fairphone 6, e/OS 4.2

i saw an old post from last year with the same issue. Does anybody know what the issue is and if there is a fix?

thanks!

Xander

If it’s on wi-fi maybe try toggling off IPv6 on your router?

After updating to /e/OS 4.2 on my FP3+ I also noticed that sometimes, probably after being disconnected from wifi, internet does not work (no LTE ison for mobile data) until I set airplane mode on and then off.

thanks, I tried that just now I think (i am really not a techy person, so hopefully i did  )

but the issue also occurs when i’m outside, so i suspect that it might need something else too.

could it possibly be a FP issue?

Sorry to hear. It might not be Iv6 then, however, some VPN apps have a toggle to enable/disable IPv6 protocol as well.

I assume any automatic re-connect options are switched on.

I wish I could be of more help.

You may get a clue from the Status bar top right

Try to work out if the problem is with connection to mobile data (triangular icon) or Wi-Fi (fan shaped icon).

Edit. @xyu it is probably the acts of

connection /
disconnection and transfer

that you want to troubleshoot, looking for clues in change of Status bar icons.

yes, thanks. it does occur when i’m connected to wifi and when i’m connected through mobile data. I get the feeling that it happens more when I switch from one to the other as well. I’d have to really make a schedule and time the observations to be sure i guess
