I have a Teracube 2e (from march '22) with /e/OS v3.0.4. I’m having a problem where on mobile internet i have an exclamation mark on the connection strength indicator (only mobile, wifi works fine) and newly started apps can’t connect. If i enable and then disable airplane mode while the app is open then in most cases those apps can suddenly connect to internet and work normally. If i then start another app i have to toggle airplane mode again for it to connect to internet (independent of other apps that are at that point already able to connect). Notable exception to this is Signal, this doesn’t receive (most) messages even with the app open and after toggling airplane mode. The exclamation mark on the mobile connection indicator is always there, also after toggling airplane mode.
Another problem i assume is related to this, is that only some push notifications get through. Others will not get through unless i am connected to wifi (sometimes 10 hours later). This does not seem to be tied to a specific app (both Signal and Discord have had a few get through on mobile internet but most did not).
I’ve tried both resetting APN settings and manually setting them, resetting mobile, wifi and bluetooth settings (under System), rebooting my phone, switching back to 3G, changing DNS (tells me unable to connect). I’ve used adb (as detailed here) to have a look at the logs, i can see apps saying there’s no connection (firefox) or connections timing out (signal) but nothing more specific (at least that i can make sense of).
How can i find out exactly why that exclamation mark appears on the mobile connection strength indicator?
Is there anything else i can try to solve this problem, anything specific i could look for in the logs for example?
Might my provider be able to see something that could help resolve this? I haven’t contacted them yet, as it does work normally on most apps after toggling airplane mode on and off.
The phone is a bit over 3 years old, has had a similar problem before for a little while, though i don’t remember how long (exclamation mark sometimes appearing when going from wifi to mobile, no internet at all, toggling airplane mode made the excamation mark go away and everything working normally), could this be a hardware problem (even though wifi works without issues)?
