Is this correct? The App Lounge itself has now (at least on my 2.9-t) two trackers: Google Analytics and Google Tag? Advanced Privacy lists it. Is this something any user did ask for?
I wonder if there was no choice because of the interaction with the Google Play Store
I guess it is rather a web link that Applounge accessed that had those trackes, very much like trackers that are detected in the default browser and Firefox by the advanced privacy program: the browsers trackers are not from the browsers but from one of the page visited that made a call to one of the trackers URL which is the mechanism used by advanced privacy to detect and stop that traffic.
Thus; seeing detected trackers in app lounge and browsers is rather reassuring on the broad and open protection that advanced privacy is providing.
Though bear in mind that only the traffic that is external to an app may be identified by advanced privacy. For example, whatsapp is still sucking all your conversation without using and external trackers, they already have your personnal conversations on their servers …
It would be good to know how TrackerControl really works internally. Does it scan the binaries for known patterns or does it really analyze network traffic?
network traffic, there is no binary analysis.
Did you activate to also check system settings?
Edit: I meant System apps
Ahm … system settings??? All settings in my TrackerControl are just default. I never changed anything there.
Sorry System apps I meant.
Since App Lounge is not on my list in TC and App Lounge is a System app. In the settings of TC, if you go ‘additional Settings’ (Erweiterete Einstellungen) there you can set it
Visibility depends on the time range you selected. When you have a short time range (the last day) then you will probably not see anything when the last time App Lounge was used has been last week or so. Select a longer time range (Month, Year).
I’m not sure if this is new. Maybe previous versions of App Lounge (or TrackerControl) didn’t show this, I just can’t remember. To be sure just open App Lounge now and do a search for any crap, there’s probably no need to install something. Then it should be listed immediately.
I don’t know to what ‘time range’ you are reffering . Not really important.
App Lounge is not in the list of TC as an app I don’t have System apps on the settings. I also don’t care about it, since I switched to Aurora. App Lounge is now only to update e/OS/ apps.
That is not TrackerControl (such an app exists on F-Droid), that is Advanced Privacy
Maybe we talked about different things
Damned, sometimes I have indeed a complete blackout. Advanced Privacy! I have no idea how this TrackerControl came into my head, I never used it for anything … I’ll fix it in my opening post.
