I just got a new phone, a Moto G 2025. I didn’t really want to, but I had to because it was part of a package deal with an Internet upgrade. And it’s an Android, too, with all the Google crap on there. I might wipe all the existing stuff off it and install /e/OS on it, but I don’t know if that would break anything. Anyway, I can’t figure out how to transfer all my files, contacts, photos, and messages over to the new phone. What would be the best way to do that? Or perhaps I could save all of them onto a micro SD card and just put that into the new phone?
Oh, also, when I do try to install /e/OS, I get to the OEM unlocking step, and the option is disabled. It’s there, but it’s grayed out. I’m not sure what to do about that.
Just curious, maybe somebody would look for the same device … According to the internet the codename for this device is “kansas”.
It’s not supported yet by /e/OS according to Smartphone Selector, and I’m not finding anything unofficial for this particular device in the forum yet.
What kind of /e/OS are you trying to install? Unofficial GSI?
Doesn’t look like there’s going to be specific ROM support, as @AnotherElk said, a GSI would be a route. Atm there’s only unofficial current builds. You’d need the commandline though (the process should be similar to this).
Debloating can help reducing a Google Stock ROM to something more sane.
If it comes to it, on the “Transferring Files” bit: if the source and target /e/OS are >= Android 15, builtin backup at Settings → System → Backup is more useful than it used to be.
