I’m trying to transfer my call history and text messages from my Samsung Galaxy to my new Fairphone 6, which comes with /e/OS pre-installed.
When I start up the FP6, I don’t see step 4 prompting me to connect a cable to copy apps and data, as shown in the help section at Passer à Fairphone, rien de plus simple ! .
Thanks piero, but I wanted to avoid using Google. And the Google migration to Murena just about contacts, photos and the calendar, isn’t?
It doesn’t work to transfer my text messages, call history and apps.
Maybe if you install the Samsung SmartSwitch app (from Apploung or aurora store), it can help you do the migration of messages, etc… Then you can delete the app.
I’m not sur if it will work on /e/ since the message app is different, etc… but you can try.
Otherwise you might need to install Quik SMS (from F-droid) on the old phone, make a backup file (in settinngs menu), transfer it to the new phone and restore from file (/e/OS sms app is a fork of Quik SMS)
And no idea for the call history if SmartSwitch doesn’t do the trick. Maybe you will find a dedicated app for back-up/restore the call history that can you do the transfer and then delete it.
Hello AurelienS,
Samsung SmartSwitch isn’t working; the process stops as soon as I plug in the cable. Nothing happens.
Google has backed up everything (SMS and MMS messages, call history, apps), but when I sync with my FP6, nothing appears.
Google says to go to Settings on the new device > tap Back up or copy data, then Copy data. But it is for a Pixel phone. And I can’t find that in the FP6 under /e/os/.
Export your call logs and messages, to files that can be transferred to the new phone (e.g. of an SD card, or by copying to / from a connected computer)
