No longer installed, as the phone rmm locked itself and i had to flash the stock rom and recovery. I don’t know how to un-RMM it as i don’t know if odin can flash the firmware to bypass this lock. I may have not understood all the information you gave me unfortunately…
i had understood that you have the intention to just Flash TWRP, then nothing more for the moment, keeping the stockOS as it was awaiting to find a degogoled custom OS …
Probably worth at least to keep it online with preferably SIM and Wi-Fi in the meantime.
Do you know the phone’s history … possible grey import … region lock ??
it is a relatively old stock firmware,
i think desactivate “system auto update” in the developper options, desactivate “autmatic time settings from the network” in clock settings, changing the date to a month older, then connect to the internet and ask for system update manually should work !
That’s what was planned. U’fortunately, after i flashed twrp, the phone was stuck in a boot loop. So i decided to reflash it…
Thanks for your answer @aibd @piero , i’ll try this tomorrow.
Today i went in the developpers settings to do what you told me and i saw oem unlock shown. I booted to download mode and KG state is checking… Looks like the lock has been reset somehow. I’m now going to follow your guide @piero. Firstly i’ll flasj the recovery that worked for me, and then i’ll get into it. I think i’m gonna flash the A14 GSI as the A13 one has not been released yet. If i ever wish to change from this unofficial to a future official, will i have to do eveeything again ? Or just wiping date and flash the new GSI ?
Many thanks
I tried to flash the new recovery 2.3.7 but twrp told me that the size of the image is larger than targeted device. Do I remain on the one I have right one ?
Edit : do not tell me I can’t mount vendor on this old twrp…
Well, I’m now stuck on twrp as I don’t see the mount vendor only and I can’t delete the “overlay” file. Do you know something that could help me ? @piero @aibd
What is the stock OS version currently installed on the phone ?
Also what is the current installed recovery ?
. Samsung Galaxy A8 (Exynos) · phhusson/treble_experimentations Wiki · GitHub
This firmware is installed:
A530FXXULCUK6
I remember it to be a OneUI version 1.0 and android 9.
The current recovery is twrp 3.3.1-0
@piero
Thanks !
so according to
you need to follow some steps :
[GUIDE][TREBLE][A530F/A530W] Project Treble Guide for Galaxy A8 2018 (18/04/2019)
then (A-only) Pie Vendor :
[A-ONLY][TREBLE][9.0][A530F/A530W/A730F] Vendor Pie For Galaxy A8/A8+ 2018
to gain Hardware Support
Camera: Works
Speaker / Microphone Speaker, Microphone works
Bluetooth Works (Bluetooth calls broken)
Wifi Works
SIM / Mobile Data / ingoing voice calls / outgoing voice calls Works
VoLTE Doesn't work (Samsung's VoLTE implementation is proprietary)
All sensors works
NFC works
Fingerprint Reader Works (On Q, the fingerprint workaround needs to be enabled via Treble App in Settings.)
3.5mm audio jack
before finally enjoy an /e/ GSI on your device !
Many thanks for your patience and for your help.
Unfortunately, I’ve followed the steps, ( [GUIDE][TREBLE][A530F/A530W] Project Treble Guide for Galaxy A8 2018 (18/04/2019)) but TWRP won’t let me mount System, nor Vendor, nor cache. Only Data. What should I do ?
Thanks in advance !
do you use the TWRP 3.3.0 version as indicated in the guide ?
you should be abble to update it after the repartitionning !
Yes, I flashed it as explained just after treble. I’m running it now. But the partition I want to mount won’t tick ! Just a vibration
doesn’t it already mounted as a folder in /system on old devices (non dynamic partions) ?
Do I skip that step then ??
Edit: I can follow the next step, dalvik cache system, cache, etc can be ticked in the wipe menu.
However, what is vendor dumpster.zip the guide tell me to select here ? And what does “select” means ? install ?

- Make Sure You Treble Your Bevice By This Guide here
- Boot into Twrp recovery
- Wipe System, Data, Dalvik and Vendor.
- Select Vendor_Dumpster.zip
(There’s a link for downloading that file far below, but the link no longer work…)
select means choose between several in the intention to flash one of them.
.
the Original Post has not been updated since years did you read the entire thread ?
you are surely not the first in your case !
pay attention in particular to the response from the Original Poster @prashantp01
you could find another link…
another file that do the job
i you see a guy who is still active, ask him…
you could find information that you can use the later android 10 Q based vendor
see also the other thread about android 10 Q based vendor, if you meet the requirements
search other discussions about treble and you phone model…
good luck…
So if I sum up :
- Trebelize your phone using the steps in that forum
- Wipe System, Data, Dalvik and Vendor
- Flash vendor dumpster found here by the way this repo contains all the fix ever created for A8
- Download the desired GSI (it MUST be A-only_arm64 Variant)
- unpack it if it wasn’t in .IMG format
- Go to TWRP , Install , Install IMAGE
- Pick your GSI and select SYSTEM IMAGE
- Reboot to TWRP Recovery (or system if you don’t want to install gapps)
So according to this post, my question is IS /e/ GSI COMPATIBLE WITH A-only ARM64 ???
Please correct me if I’m wrong somwhere. Besides, the post doesn’t tell me to flash the permisiver ??
EDIT : TWRP FAILS TO MOUNT THE PARTITION, RED ERRORS IN THE LOGS. Any help ??
@manoj Can you please change title to something like
“trying to install GSI on a Samsung A8 (2018)”
@VinK3645
my advise is to back to stock samsung firmare
restarting for scratch
then follow the procedure you found
in this right order
