Ugreen CMT38 USB-C Ethernet Adapter not working on FP5 with /e/OS 3.6

Hello,

I have a Fairphone 5 running /e/OS 2.4.1-t-20241008439851-official-FP5 and I’m trying to use a Ugreen CMT38 USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

When I plug in the adapter, Android shows “USB device connected” but no Ethernet option appears in Settings → Network & Internet.

What I already tried:

  • Reboot with adapter and cable plugged in

  • Booting with adapter already connected before startup

  • Termux commands (ip addr, cat /proc/net/dev) all return “permission denied”

The Ethernet cable is connected on both ends. The adapter lights up.

Does anyone know if this adapter works with FP5 and /e/OS? Is there a workaround or a known fix?

Thank you!
