Like the user who posted Can't change contact photos (now closed, otherwise I would have juste added to it) I can’t change contacts photos on my Fairphone 4.
The problem is exactly the same : no save button in the cropping widget.
As
I cannot reproduce on a FP4 (3.02 official). What eOS version you are running? Changed your laucher?
I got the phone preinstalled from the murena store. I didn’t change the launcherAFAIK, but accepted an /e/OS upgrade by the systems update mechanism. I am currently running 3.0.4.
I searched for a long time, but I found out how to save a photo. (As FP4 user as well)
Once you’ve selected the photo, tap just below the WiFi (or mobile network) icon, and the ‘Save’ field will appear.
The reason is that the ‘Save’ field is active but nearly invisible on the screen, so you have to tap blindly just below the WiFi icon… (If you look and concentrate really closely above your photo, you can lightly see “save” in the top right-hand corner (below the WiFi icon)).
Would be interesting what setting is the reason. Language, LiveDisplay, Accessibility setting, extra darkmode…?
When I study your image @esd I do see the word ENREGISTRER in the expected space, black on black.
On my Moto if I change language to French I see ENREGISTRER white on black.
Does the fault still exist out of dark theme ?
Sorry @stanwood you made the point already, but I first read
as a more generalised hint.
Thanks for your replies. Indeed the control is active. For the record, other controls elsewhere have normal contrast, including when cropping photos in the “Camera” application.
The phone is not in dark mode (I got it this way and left it as it suits me). I tested dark mode and did see the the button appear white on black.
I’d still count this a Contacts application display bug. Is there a way to declare one ?
Sure, it is certainly an undesirable bug; just Report an issue.

filed it with your screenshot at
those need one-liner changes in xml to be fixed.
I have a similar unmerged fix for 1+ year that is unmerged though. A canary for dev org ![]()
Thanks ! I’d have filed it myself, but my mail is “unauthorized”.
Hopefully it’s gonna get fixed ![]()
unless that gitlab registration is again automated to a degree, murena misses out on those bugreports - Week 36, 2025: Development and Testing Updates - #3 by tcecyk
